WWW ... Wicked Warburton Weekend 9th & 10th August

The dust has settled since the last Warby Booze Cruise, so it's time to plan for the next. August is far enough off to arrange your social calendar so you don't miss out.

Following the arrangements for the May weekend which worked well; meet at COG Cafe Mt Evelyn 10:00am for around a 10:30am roll. If we stop at all pubs we'd expect to get into Warburton before darkness and an evening of mirth in front of the log fire.

If there's snow on Donna Buang the, we can throw snow balls at one another!

If we make a list (yep, another one!) maybe we ca make a group booking for accommodation.

Thanks for the feedback and welcome to the small but growing on-line peleton of like minded cyclists.

The forum site is still very much in its infancy, so modifying colours and design to improve the look and readability is sure to happen from time-to-time.

Meanwhile, back at the Warby Weekend, we'll need to decide where we're going to stay and book in the near future, otherwise we might not get in.

Ian suggested cabins, but I'm not sure that the socialising ability would be the same.

BTW, just going off-topic for a second, have you noticed the ability to include Flash & video in the forum ... plus the ability to chat at the foot of the main page? (Assuming someone else is on-line ... otherwise you'd be chatting to yourself, and that's a bad habit)

I have no experience with the cabins , so a comparisment i can't make,
al i can say the warby pub , was a fun and conveniant location.
And there is where my preference will be..

Yes, I must admit that my preference is for the pub too. All under one roof and no need to venture out and freeze your proverbial ass-ets off.

So what is the cost for accom for the pub and how many can squeeze into a room
Just checking the finances to see if they can stretch!! weekend away or a new pair if knick!!!

About $40 from memory. Or $80 for a room with an en suite.

You can't get a decent pair of knicks for that!

also is it a suitable track or is it a road to ride on Hybrid or road bike????

It's a rail trail and, according to Oz on the other forum, it's in pretty good condition and okay for a roadie.

Personally I usually take the MTB on the Warby trail, but others can and do ride their road bike and do reasonably well. It fairly good compacted gravel in most places and some bitumen as you near Warburton.

Last call for numbers! The Warburton Booze Cruise leaves in 2 weeks, the venue is the Alpine Retreat, the log fire's a-cracklin', the beer, wine and pink lemonade is all at the right temperature ... and it's time to book or sleep in a tent.

Day 1. Below the snow line, enthusiastic and yet undaunted, enjoying the sun.




Evening 1. Pre-dinner drinks, log fire, liquid refreshments. Oblivious of what is to follow. Various intrepid adventurers.

Damhooligan. Do I look worried?

Donna. It's snowing out there! Are we going for a walk?
